Teenage Boy Driver Killed In 170 Freeway Crash

A 17-year-old boy whose vehicle went off the Hollywood (170) Freeway and hit a light pole and trees died and one of two other boys inside the vehicle suffered serious injuries, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The driver, identified as Sarkis Atikyan, of Glendale, lost control of his Nissan about 10:15 p.m. Friday while changing lanes at a high rate of speed near Chandler Boulevard, according to the CHP.

An 18-year-old male passenger from Sherman Oaks, sustained major injuries and another passenger, a 17-year-old North Hills boy, suffered minor injuries, the CHP reported.
